I loved the concept of this shoot. Mom and Dad wanted to celebrate their 10 year anniversary with a photo shoot in their wedding attire that included their 3 adorable children. I loved the idea! We had a lot of fun putting this together and the kids had a lot of fun too. More photos to come from this shoot…but here is the one that made front page of the Christmas card!

Abbie’s Camp Out Birthday

Abbie pretty much planned her own party for her 5th birthday. She wanted a “Camp Out Birthday”…with tents, s’mores, and teddy bears in the goodie bags. Unfortunately, the burn ban was still in effect, so the campfire was made from tissue paper and the s’mores on a stick were cold, instead of hot. The kids had fun playing in the homemade tents, decorating bird houses, playing relay games and flashlight tag after dark.

I will admit that this was my favorite birthday party to plan yet! There is so much you can do with this theme! We hung silver stars in the trees, so they could have a camp out under the stars…even though it wasn’t over night.

Happy Birthday, Abbie! You are such a blessing in my life…

A new year brings a new crop of precious little newborns. I can’t get enough of these sweet little babies! Miss Sydney was as cute as can be…and so was Big Brother. He’s grown so much since his own newborn session 3 years ago.

We just got back to Round Rock from our summer family vacation on Galveston Island. Excited about some different scenery than the Austin locations I am used to shooting at, I took the opportunity to do a beach shoot with my own two little ones. Having a photographer for a mother, they don’t always want to play model for me…but both enjoyed playing in the sand and hunting for seashells. It was a perfect morning on the beach!

When I bought these rompers for the studio a year ago, I kept envisioning them as vintage swimsuits….thus became the inspiration for this shoot. Even though it was Texas beaches, I wanted a Cape Cod feel to it. I love the way it turned out!

For some reason, when I am editing a shoot, a song lyric or scripture verse will pop in my head that seems to describe the way the shoot makes me feel. With this one, it was “Luckiest” by Ben Folds Five

I don’t get many things right the first time,

What a busy life it is with three children! Mom definitely has her plate full with a growing adolescent, a toddler, and a newborn baby. Something tells me there is a lot of team sports and at home wrestling matches this family’s future.

Paulo gets the Focal Point’s “Dad of the Year” award for 2010!

This shoot started a little differently than most. Usually, it’s mom coming to the planning session, choosing the wardrobe, and making sure the kids come happy and ready for their photo shoot. But in this case, Dad came to me wanting to pull off the ultimate gift for his wife! Together we planned the shoot and Dad orchestrated everything for the boys without any help from mom! He even included the perfect touch of their favorite stuffed animals.

The shoot went off perfectly, and I loved how the photos captured these two sweet little boys relationship with one another. I could tell from the moment I met them that they loved each other and that Little Brother wanted to be just like Big Brother.

It was the best surprise any mother could get on Christmas morning when Dad pulled out the new custom framed wall portrait for above their mantel!!

Seriously! Can this family be more perfect?? Little Hayden is such a heart breaker and always charms me every time I photograph him. His mom and dad are just the perfect couple and as sweet as can be…and Mom is just a natural beauty with such poise in front of the camera.

This is my second time to shoot this family this season. First Mom’s side of the family in Dallas a few weeks ago, and now Dad’s side of the family here in Austin. I told Kristi she is going to have her work cut out for her with TWO amazing sessions to work off of. We are going to have to do an album to get it all in (or buy a bigger house:)

This family amazes me every time we are together. They are funny, polite and great in front of a camera! I started photographing this family when the boys where babies…and looking at them now, it’s hard to believe how much they have grown! The first time I photographed them 5 years ago, Maddy (the oldest) said the most adorable thing I think I have ever heard during a shoot…”This photography stuff is hard work! Now I know how Tyra Banks feels!” It still makes me laugh just thinking about it:)

I love the different personalities that each of these kids brings to the family…not to mention some great fashion sense! There are so many amazing shots from this shoot, it may deserve 2 blog posts…but I had to post a few in mid-edit. Can’t wait to show you all of them, L!

There is something about sister relationships that always get to me. Maybe it’s because I never had one of my own (although I have a couple of friends that come very close)…or maybe it’s because I am the mother of two little girls. There is a bond among sisters that is like no other.

As I raise my girls, I always tell them to remember that sisters come first, because you will always have each other. Even though their personalities are very different and they don’t always get along…I want them to always be able to count on each other.

As I photographed these two adorable and spirited young women…I could fast forward and see my own two years from now. I hope they will be just as beautiful inside and out.

This group is like a second family to my husband. For the 7 years he and I have been together, the Harris family has always been a part of our holiday family visits and most of their family recipes have made their way into my kitchen on Thanksgiving or Christmas. We shot their family this summer right before part of the group headed over seas for a job transfer. It was a great time to capture a lasting memory of all the kids together at this age. As I have been designing Christmas cards for them, I thought it would be a good time to show them off!

Not only is this a group of fellow Aggies, but I shot Dawn and Josh’s wedding several years back! One of the best parts of my job is getting to stay in touch with my clients and get to watch their families grow and document their lives in photographs over the years. D&J’s boys are such sweeties and I didn’t even have to pull out my bribes until the very end of the session! This first shot is my favorite… I hope it makes it to the wall!
