Paulo gets the Focal Point’s “Dad of the Year” award for 2010!

This shoot started a little differently than most. Usually, it’s mom coming to the planning session, choosing the wardrobe, and making sure the kids come happy and ready for their photo shoot. But in this case, Dad came to me wanting to pull off the ultimate gift for his wife! Together we planned the shoot and Dad orchestrated everything for the boys without any help from mom! He even included the perfect touch of their favorite stuffed animals.

The shoot went off perfectly, and I loved how the photos captured these two sweet little boys relationship with one another. I could tell from the moment I met them that they loved each other and that Little Brother wanted to be just like Big Brother.

It was the best surprise any mother could get on Christmas morning when Dad pulled out the new custom framed wall portrait for above their mantel!!

When you get two 4 year olds in a photo shoot, you know to expect the unexpected! These two kept me on my toes, but having a daughter exactly the same age, I was totally used to that! This was my 3rd year to document this family and I look forward to continuing to watch them grow over the years. We did several awesome wall pieces from this shoot including a 54 inch gallery wrap for the breakfast room and a gorgeous custom framed piece for Miss N’s room.

I always love getting to work with this couple! Brittany is so stylish and has such a bubbly personality, while hubby, Brad, is quite the gentleman. Here are a few favorites from the shoot. I can’t decide which one to make a gallery wrap in the studio….I love them all!

Meet Baby Elliott. This precious little newborn is Baby #2 for my BFF, Lisa. He and Big Sis Zoe are just 14 months apart, so Mom and Dad have a busy next couple of years ahead of them. My own girls love this family and have affectionately named their own baby dolls, Zoe and Elliott. The first photo on the line up is the one we did for a 20×30 gallery wrap for his Rock-N-Roll nursery. It looks AMAZING!!

Seriously! Can this family be more perfect?? Little Hayden is such a heart breaker and always charms me every time I photograph him. His mom and dad are just the perfect couple and as sweet as can be…and Mom is just a natural beauty with such poise in front of the camera.

This is my second time to shoot this family this season. First Mom’s side of the family in Dallas a few weeks ago, and now Dad’s side of the family here in Austin. I told Kristi she is going to have her work cut out for her with TWO amazing sessions to work off of. We are going to have to do an album to get it all in (or buy a bigger house:)

This family amazes me every time we are together. They are funny, polite and great in front of a camera! I started photographing this family when the boys where babies…and looking at them now, it’s hard to believe how much they have grown! The first time I photographed them 5 years ago, Maddy (the oldest) said the most adorable thing I think I have ever heard during a shoot…”This photography stuff is hard work! Now I know how Tyra Banks feels!” It still makes me laugh just thinking about it:)

I love the different personalities that each of these kids brings to the family…not to mention some great fashion sense! There are so many amazing shots from this shoot, it may deserve 2 blog posts…but I had to post a few in mid-edit. Can’t wait to show you all of them, L!

There is something about sister relationships that always get to me. Maybe it’s because I never had one of my own (although I have a couple of friends that come very close)…or maybe it’s because I am the mother of two little girls. There is a bond among sisters that is like no other.

As I raise my girls, I always tell them to remember that sisters come first, because you will always have each other. Even though their personalities are very different and they don’t always get along…I want them to always be able to count on each other.

As I photographed these two adorable and spirited young women…I could fast forward and see my own two years from now. I hope they will be just as beautiful inside and out.

….but you can’t take Texas out of the girl! Baby Julia came in with her parents while on vacation from California. Both parents being native Texans themselves, had to get a few shots of Baby J sporting her Red, White and Blue. She was so happy during the shoot and had plenty of gummy smiles for me. We ended up designing several great pieces from this shoot including a great gallery wrap for her bedroom.

It’s hard to believe that Kristin and Dave have been married 5 years! When I shot their engagement portraits back then, we didn’t have the best luck with locations… everywhere we went that day, the spots were booked for private events. So this year when they decided to freshen up the portraits in their house, we tried again for all those spots that didn’t work out the first time around.

Even though Dave HATES taking photographs, I finally got him to loosen up and have a little fun (maybe??) Kristin, tell Dave that image #2 is for over the fireplace!

“Do you ever just look at some your photos and it just takes your breath away?” Grandma asked me as she wiped away a tear during their viewing session yesterday.

“Yes…(smile)…some photos do,” I said.

And I can definitely say that every time I photograph this sweet angel, I am awed at her soulful eyes and innocent spirit. Thank you for allowing me to document your journey over the last year and a half!

I wrapped up photographing round 2 of my “Holiday Specials” on Saturday. We had beautiful weather AND happy children… the perfect combination! I don’t usually post sneak peaks, but there were 3 sweet babies I just had to show a few photographs of! I can’t wait to edit these sessions and show the families all of the amazing shots we got.

I have been working on Holiday Cards for some of my summer shoots and found a gem that never made it to the blog! Love these 3 kids! Each has the most expressive eyes and the sweetest personalities to go with them. The oldest boy is such a little gentleman and has permission to date either of my daughters in the future.

Oh and to Mom and Dad… you can’t escape my camera forever… next time you two are joining them in the shoot!

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to blog this session! One of my top three favorite bridal sessions in the past few months. I loved the hot pink accents that Heather added in her shoes and flowers. What an awesome addition to an already stunning bride!

Miss C came to see me on her visit to Texas from Seattle. She was so full of big gummy smiles that she made my job very easy. I shot Mom and Dad’s wedding a few years back and I was so excited to meet their new (or 4 month old) addition. Thanks for letting me photograph her!
