Just a quick post from this mornings E-Session with Kym and Doug. All I have to say is I get to work with the cutest couples ever! I always feel like each of my bride’s could be my BFF! More to come from this fabulous duo…but I had to share a few.

It’s been awhile since I have posted a wedding…Jenn ( my fabulous second shooter) and I have been really busy documenting beautiful couples on their beautiful days. And the second reason is that it’s just always so hard to pick what to show. I fall in love with everything and just can’t decided my favorites. But this was a recent one at the lovely Barr Mansion. I just never get tired of shooting there. I love the vintage vibe and the timeless look. Always gorgeous…especially with a cute couple like these two.

One of the best parts of photographing children, is letting them be themselves and discovering their interests and personalities. When it comes to kids, I just love the bruised knees, disheveled hair, and dirty hands. Sometime it’s nice to forgo the cute outfits and vintage prop, and instead opt for the dress up clothes and dirty dump trucks. I think the imperfection is what makes the image “perfect”…it tells the story of that child at that moment in their life.

Let them be little, let them have fun, and let go of trying to make them sit still and smile at the camera. Instead, think about that image that will freeze frame time and take you back to a moment in their childhood that will be gone all too quickly…

We all know that Moms are probably the least photographed members of the family. We are either take the photos, wiping the noses, putting the shoes back on, feeding a baby…you get the idea. But every mom deserves to be a part of the photos every now and then. And when the crazy years of raising children are done, wouldn’t she cherish to have those moments back…captured forever in priceless photos?

In honor of Mother’s Day just a little over a month away, Focal Point Photographics is going to give a way a complimentary photography session and a gift basket of goodies to one deserving momma. Do YOU have someone that would love to be surprised with such a great gift??

You can enter your mom, wife, sister, BFF, neighbor…any favorite lady as long as she is a MOM! And yes, you can enter yourself!

Here are the rules:

1. Submit your nomination for the fabulous woman in your life through the Blog including:

*Her full name, age(s) of her kids and how you know her

* 1-3 paragraphs why you feel she is most deserving to be pampered with a complimentary photography session and showered with photos and goodies.

*Her contact information: email, phone number…so we can notify her if she wins

*Your contact information in case we can’t get a hold of her.

2. If you would like to enter yourself (it’s ok…you deserve it!) Then please submit your entry through the Blog including:

* YOUR full name and ages of your kiddos

I just love doing photography sessions on the streets of Austin. This romantic engagement portrait was shot downtown…but looks like it could have been in New York City. Love it.

I often get asked the question “when is the best time to schedule my babies first photo shoot?” For newborn portraits, I recommend 5-14 days after birth and most people set up their newborn session during their 3rd trimester based on their due date.

Here is one of my favorite images from Sweet Caden’s newborn session. This mama has one precious little baby on her hands!
